Room with a View
Have you ever paid for a room with the view then felt the disappointment of arriving to find a vista that wasn't worth the price you paid? Our new "room with a view" column will highlight views that are splurge-worthy vistas! Here are 5 waterfront views that won't disappoint.
1. Mauna Lani - Big Island, Hawaii
What We Love: The Mauna Lani is a quieter resort with a smaller beach and very little shopping which makes it pure heaven for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The ocean front, balcony rooms at this resort are among the closest to the water of any hotel on the Big Island. The sound of the surf and wind through the palm trees is hard to find in the more populated areas.
2. Surf and Sand Hotel - Laguna Beach, California
What We Love: There are many ocean front rooms in Southern California, but no other is as close to the ocean as the surf and sand. If you are a light sleeper, you may need to use the ear plugs provided by the hotel as waves roar under your balcony - a delight to some and a bit loud to others. Note: We recommend booking rooms in the "tower" portion of this hotel. Some rooms face the swimming pool which can be less than peaceful when children are present.
3. Stephanie Inn - Cannon Beach, Oregon
Start your romantic evening with a fire on the beach complete with smores - fire built and smore kit provided by the Stephanie. Whether you enjoy a fire on the beach or curl up by the fireside in your room, the oceanfront rooms at the Stepanie are among the most magical on the entire West Coast.
4. Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa - Jupiter, Florida
Ideal for a family trip or girls weekend of shopping and beach time, the Oceanfront rooms at this little hideaway in Jupiter Beach will not disappoint.
5. Rockwater Secret Cove Resort - British Columbia
The tenthouse suites at the Rockwater Secret Cove resort first gained popularity in the early 2000's. While the experience is a bit more rustic than in the early days, the views from the tent's are unbeatable.
